How I spent my $1,500 paycheck in Brazil

I live in Brazil, and while by American standards, $1,500 is a paltry sum, I manage quite well with this and have been viewed as a rich guy here. Here’s the exact breakdown of how I spent the money, and later I’ll provide some of my reasoning.

$200- direct to savings, self explanatory.

$80- student loans, goes towards the last 6 and some thousands I have to finish paying

$150- rent (rough amount, monthly is 700 BRL) I live in a one bed one bath apartment and have a small service area in a convenient location

$60- utilities, water and electricity, and a gas tank that we use just for cooking, which runs out every two months or so

$200- groceries, all of the cooking and cleaning supplies we use in a month, I’m including as well eating out some nights. (I’m married and my wife is pregnant)

This is, at the time, all of my required monthly spending. Not even 700 dollars. A lot of these expenses can be brought down, this is by no means living on the bare minimum here, and I’m including my wife in the calculations. There are plenty of good restaurants, and we live in a touristic town, so…
